Thanks to Alan for highlighting this map generator, I’m not that well travelled, I’m an arm chair geographer, but when I do travel I go far!

Photo soup

Saturday, June 7th, 2008

I think Photo Soup is a nice little application. You choose a key term, in this case Bangladesh, and it generates a crossword based on the tags associated with Bangladesh photos in Flickr.  Sadly embedding messes up the blog template.

Video Spin

videospin

I’ve had a little play with Video Spin today, it is a free slim down version of Pinnacle. Much easier to use than Windows Movie Maker, but less presentation tools, there is an option for upgrades. The interesting utility is the range of export formats, flash, Real Player, wmv, ipod and Sony psp. The programme will even upload your video straight to sharing sites, such as You Tube. Might be a useful tool for producing coursework movies.

Unreported World- Cyclone Sidr

Friday, February 15th, 2008

A B.B.C. documentary about the impact of Cyclone Sidr three months on, I think I’ll return and use this later in the year. It will compliment well the Bangladesh resources that I produced on my return from Bangladesh.

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

bangladeshflag As part of my International study visit to Bangladesh, one of my targets was to produce an educational resource. This is now complete.

The resource is based on Cyclone Sidr and is aimed at Key Stage 3, it consists of six lessons and forms a complete case study.

Black Gold and Survived

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

51PmJ4LE%2BvL__AA240_ It seemed at some parts of the week that my body would just give in, but I think I’ve managed to survive the Bangladesh jet lag and the stomach is becoming better. Looking forward to watching Black Gold about the production of coffee, catching up with sleep, reading some entries from other Geogblogs, especially Alan’s (I wonder how his students are getting on…) and preparing for next week. Year 11 should be putting their finishing touches to their flooding coursework, whilst Year 10 will be contemplating Wanda….

Wanda off to Antarctica! - Year 10.

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

wanda Year 10 will start their first piece of coursework over the next two weeks, the coursework support page has now been completed. Wanda is off to Antarctica, and needs some help. As the Year 11 will tell you Wanda is slightly clueless, she tends to pop-up throughout the course, by the way Year 11 she is likely to return in Cultural Geography! I imagine she has little culture. ;)

I will provide timings for the work and deadlines once we have begun. After being briefed you can start at any time. Remember your presentation format is up to you! :)

Any tips from Year 11 about this piece?
