Serbia, mmm, interesting, the first non-English language song for ten years. My vote was for Ukraine.
The United Kingdom ,through the B.B.C. ,is the biggest contributor financially to the contest, which is why we don’t have to go through the semi-finals.
Bad luck Scoot, flying nowhere it seems…
There is a continuing debate about political voting. I’ve produced a little task (Word.doc 113kb)that I’m be doing with Key Stage 3 students this week to investigate the claim. A nice little map skills task.

Fantastic resource yet again Tony. Concepts of space, place interconnectedness etc (but in the words of the old school - what has that got to do with geography!!!). Now there is a GA superscheme - the geography of Eurovision…

Now that people from outside Europe are taking part in the EUROfactor it seems to be getting worse, but some where cool, liked Ukrain. Didnt watch it all though as i found more intrest in other channels at the time.

Good stuff Tony - many thanks for the prompt response. I had to laugh when the voting was coming on…

Thanks for the praise!
I’ve had a couple of good lessons using this today, it promoted some good debate with year 8, none of it was about whether the song was good. We discussed the impact of Iraq as one possible reason for the United Kingdom’s unpopularity.
Remember when Blair came to power in 1997, and in the same month we won with Katrina and the Waves… Better song though!
I’m sure a heard booing when the U.K. entry was announced.
G, it all depends on what you class as Europe!
