Goodbye Tony…

By Tony_Cassidy

Not me the other Tony, well soon… has ten years really past that fast…

In the 1980’s and early 90’s the only Prime Minister I knew was Margaret Thatcher, your equivalent has been Tony Blair.

What is your reaction to the news?

I am a conservative, hopefully people will chose them in the next general as Gordon will be taking over. He doesn’t look that popular.

  2. Tony_Cassidy Says:

Oh dear ;) . Have you listened to his campaign speech? Convinced me, he has been the power behind Tony Blair, the stable economy.

What is attractive about the Conservatives?

  3. George Says:

you all should vote for Liberal Democrats, better than all the rest i think, even though im too young to vote, but when i am old enugh, if they still stand for the same thisngs then i am. Labor have done far more bad things for this contry than good, and i am extremely happy now tony brair is out

  4. Tony_Cassidy Says:

So, what bad things have Labour done and why are the Liberal Democrats more attractive to a young person like yourself?

    It’s a citizenship blog now…. :)

  5. George Says:

There’s alot of good things the Liberal Democrats support. They where more against the war, they had cool new revolutionary ideas (trying to see how many times i can say the word revolution in one day) and above all ,they said what needed to be said to the public and where very true.

  6. Tony_Cassidy Says:

Yes I agreed with their stance on the War, as did many Labour M.P.s. I think it could have been handled in a much better way.

Wouldn’t it be a vote wasted though?

  7. George Says:

well, everyone has that attatude about it, but if everyone that thought it would be a wasted vote voted for it then they would do brilliantly. People have to vote for what they want not who they think stands a better chance anyway or for whatever everyone else is going for

  8. Tony_Cassidy Says:

This has a name, it’s called tactical voting. I studied it during political geography at University, it came o the front of politics during the last Tory Government, Labour voters would switch to the Lib Dems it they had a chance of winning and vice verse, sometimes you have to see the National picture!

  11. George Says:

i want labor out, because when i leavce school im thinking of mabye joining the army at some part for a bit, and labor may still be in iraq and i dont want to join if that is going on, wait till the war ends, but i wouldnt mind fighting in a war with purpos

  12. Tony_Cassidy Says:

Interesting personal point G, but remember that the Tories also supported the war…

  13. George Says:

well, well, well, lib dems rock in every single way
    words cant bring them down
they are good in every single way, words cant make them loose

sorry for that, im not with it, but they are brilliant and i think that england would be more sacure in there hands than any others

  14. Tony_Cassidy Says:

Mmm, interesting opinion, we are all allowed them, we live in a democratic, I think, society… :)

  15. George Says:

so why do you want labor, youve asked me why lib dem, now its your turn…

  16. Tony_Cassidy Says:

Though I’m not in favour of several major policies, the Labour Party is the one party committed to redistribution of wealth, though we now call it ‘life chances’.

I’m also proud about the Governments action on Education, though not all of it, the work done to raise children from Poverty, and its success in cutting the debt for the World’s poorest countries.

Politics is a bit like a bag of sweets, sometimes you like some more than others, it doesn’t mean you throw the whole baf away. ;)
