Grabbed some Geo-bargains on quick visit to town today, another copy of the Simpson’s ‘Around the World in Eighty D’oh’s’ (More to come on that front, this week
), from HMV for £7, I’m sure a member of staff has it at work, and a nice book from the The Works, called the ‘The Complete Guide to Earth’.
Complete bargain at £15…. I intend to spend some of the night looking at the brilliant images, then put it on a desk in my classroom. I’m not convinced by pointless extension tasks, I’d rather a student looked through this… it works at primary school. Anyway, who wants to be challenged, do well and then be given more work.

Tony, totally agree with the sentiments about pointless extension tasks, I blogged about reading texts with a geography emphasis in replacement of this recently. I think it’s too often death by worksheet, when you could really enthuse a student by letting them loose on a book or chapter of their choice and giving them an experience which they will remember rather than resent. On a lighter note, enjoy the Simpsons!

Kenny, I read about this on your blog, Che! I remember now, sometimes a seed is planted….
Sadly, I think we are quite ‘radical’ in this thinking!
