Is Ilkeston, Nottingham?

So soon we will be considering ‘your place’, but I would like your views on the following problem, which has been worrying me. Each morning I catch the bus and travel over the border from Nottinghamshire to Derbyshire, of course after having my injections. :) But hasn’t Ilkeston got a bit of an identity crisis? Is Ilkeston, Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire?

Ilkeston is clearly in Derbyshire, just, but the border in recent years has regularly changed to suit the electoral prospects of politicians.

But Ilkeston has a Nottingham phone number, but a Derbyshire Post Code.

And then there is football, many of you support the mighty tricky trees of Forest,

whilst some of you support the less than convincing Rams,

And then there is shopping, some of you opt for Derby and others for Nottingham?

So, what is Ilkeston’s place? Robin Hood and Merry Men or well dressing and sheep?

Well spotted here at The Oaks we have a DE (derbyshire) postcode but we have an 0115 (nottingham) phonenumber sufix.
Good question, however I do think we are in Derbyshire as our location is our postcode, so Debyshire is Your Answer! The phone sufix is only which county exchange you are linked (not local exchange, the exchange that is linked to)

I’d prefer to be Nottinghamshire though!

I do love Nottigham, good shopping city, food, leisure, atmosphere and it’s green too -Trams!
NB: Not been to dodge areas!

Interesting comments, I still feel that Ilkeston has more in common with Nottinghamshire, particularly the industrial heritage.

I wonder whether people in High Peak show more association to Manchester…
