Pilot Collaboration Web Links via Del.icio.us

By Tony_Cassidy

You may have noticed on the right hand bar, the above has appeared!

I have set up a del.icio.us account, which is a kind of online depository for your favourite web links, so that you can view them even when you are away from your computer; but it does also offer a chance for collaboration, hopefully saving time. You can view my favourites here. You will notice under each web link there is a line that says ‘to’ and the word ‘ocrpilotgeography’. This is a ‘tag’. All the new web links that I add to my account, associated with the course, I will add this tag. Notice the tag ‘ocrpilotgeography’ is all one word. I have also added other tags as well, for example ‘extreme environments’, to denote different topics. On the front page of del.icio.us, if you click on ‘tags’, near the ‘del.icio.us hotlists’,a new page will appear, there is a white box at the top of this page, next to the del.icio.us title, if you type in ‘ocrpilotgeography’ and press return, all the websites associated with this tag will appear.

Well, what does this mean? If other people sign up and add web links with the tag ‘ocrpilotgeography’, we could quickly build up a vast resources of useful links for ourselves and students.

You can also join my network, as indicated above, when you do, I can automatically send new web links to your account and vice versa.

Any thoughts?
