Thanks Noel, Reading RSS feed in Google Earth

By Tony_Cassidy

Noel (Cullompton, England) has sent me (Nottingham, England) a Google Earth file that allows you to view the RSS feed of this blog in Google Earth. Noel’s article provides the necessary links to produce your own files. I tried it and succeeded with ease! Why the place names? Well, these are used to ‘tag’ the feed to Google Earth.

What’s quite interesting is that the network link has located this post in Nottingham rather than Cullompton, even though Cullompton was mentioned first. The “natural language geoder” algorithim employed by geonames claims to be around 90% accurate - this is a very good example.

This whole blog is looking really good Tony. I’m glad that you’ve joined the WordPress clan - brilliant application!
